City Council not willing to support request to freeze transit fares

In response to Council’s decision to not allow the TTC’s $47-million surplus for a fare freeze in 2015, Candidate for Mayor, Karen Stintz, released this statement:

“It is unfortunate that City Council was not willing to support a fare freeze for the TTC customers in 2015. Yesterday, Council had the opportunity to reward the 1.7-million customers who use the TTC every day by ensuring a fare freeze for 2015.

“As TTC Chair, I led the organization to implement a Customer Charter and placed a focus on improving customer service. As Mayor, I will continue to focus on customer service at the TTC and am dedicated to finding savings in our day-today operations, as well as making sure we keep transit at an affordable rate for the riders of the TTC.”
